Town of Munster Indiana

Mr. Nellans was first elected to the Town Council in November 1999 and has been reelected in both 2003 and 2007.  He served as the Town Council President in 2003 and 2004.  He is now serving a 4-year term that began on January 1, 2008.  He was born and raised in Northwest Indiana.  He has lived in Munster for over 44 years and has been married to his wife Paula, a 50-year resident, for 35 years.  The two of them, along with their two children, Jennifer and Jeffrey, have graduated from MunsterHigh School.  Mr. Nellans attended Purdue University Calumet, receiving his bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering.  He has a 36 year industrial career with 27 years at CommunityHospital as the Vice President of Engineering and Support Services.  He has been involved with project planning, development, bidding and project management with values up to $50 million.  He serves on the following boards: Hospice of the Calumet Area, Munster High School Booster Club and the Munster Lions Club.  He is a member of the Indiana Society for Healthcare Engineering and National Fire Protection Association.  He has also served with the Munster Babe Ruth Board, Munster Girls' Softball and St Thomas More Building Committee.  He currently serves on the Lake County Solid Waste Board, the Munster Plan Commission, the Munster Redevelopment Commission and is the town liaison to the Munster Board of Safety.
